Brief info
Joji is the current Board Chairman/Executive Director of the Tashi Lhunpo Foundation (formerly the Panchen Lama Tashi Lhunpo Project (PLTLP), a non-profit organization in support of the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Bylakuppe, South India.
Joji’s study and practice of Buddhism has spanned many years.
She is a long-time student of Khensur Rinpoche Lobzang Tsetan, former Abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in India, since 2007 and through his guidance has led dharma study groups since 2010. Her meditation practice began in 1974 in Transcendental Meditation and years later, migrated to Shamatha/Vipashyana under the guidance of Khensur Rinpoche and other
distinguished lamas. She currently conducts weekly meditation sessions among practitioners of all levels. In 2016, she completed the Compassion Cultivation Training conducted by Gonzalo Brito through The Stanford Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education, and subsequently in 2020 proceeded to train as a Certified CCT Teacher.
A long time yoga teacher of a classic Korean tradition, she has now combined her own personal practice of Qigong/Korean yoga with traditional Indian yoga. She has attended numerous retreats in Sedona, Arizona learning healing techniques using mind, body and spirit. She finds the art of integrated practice to be a fulfilling holistic approach to spiritual growth and awareness.
Previously, Joji was a leader in the banking industry for 25 years, and has drawn from this experience to run her own business, The Cowper Inn, a historic boutique hotel in Palo Alto, California.
As one of the founders of the Tashi Lhunpo Sangha, Palo Alto, and as the owner of the Cowper Inn Yoga Loft, she feels very fortunate for having provided the space that gave birth to the Sangha. Her Tibetan Buddhist name is Tsetan Dolma, bestowed upon her by Khensur Rinpoche. It means Long Life Mother of all Buddhas.
