Welcome!
Tashi Lhunpo Sangha is based in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. “Sangha” is a Tibetan word for wise community. Because a Sangha’s focus is that of study, meditation and devotional practices, Buddhists consider them to be sacred. When you are participating, please treat the time as sacred just like any other religious tradition. Please be calm and quiet and be respectful of practitioners.
During the pandemic, we are using the Zoom platform for all to stay connected. The following behaviors are considered respectful in a Sangha and we ask you to follow them while attending one of our sessions:
- Upon entering the chat room, please avoid unnecessary conversations.
- Silence should be observed as a sign of respect to all other practitioners.
- We request that you stay on camera throughout the session.
- During meditation sessions, please mute your audio except when you are leading or sharing.
- Be mindful of the time when sharing in the discussions in order to allow others to be able to share.
- Be open to different perspectives.
- Be respectful towards everyone.
- Most of all, be on time. If you know you will be late, please notify the host in advance.
- Remove shoes and leave them in the front entrance before entering the space.
- Dress appropriately when you visit.
- Do not point your feet towards the teachers, the altar or any holy object; it is considered a form of disrespect for the bottoms of one’s feet to face the sacred images.
- Do not put Dharma materials – prayer books, texts, Dharma books or notebooks with Dharma in them – on the floor, or sit or step over them.
- Please help put away cushions and chairs at the end of the session.
